UGANDAN AND SWEDISH YOUTH DEMAND ACTION ON EACOP RESOLUTION

Ugandan and Swedish youth have jointly petitioned the Swedish government to prioritize the implementation of the EU Parliament's resolution on Uganda's Lake Albert oil development project. The resolution was adopted in September 2022, and Sweden, as the current Presidency of the Council of the EU, has a crucial role to play in setting the EU's priorities and representing it externally. The youth are calling on the EU to make the implementation of this resolution a priority, given the potential environmental and social impacts of the oil project. TotalEnergies, a French or EU-based company, is the main operator of the Tilenga and EACOP oil projects in Uganda and Tanzania. Read the full press release here
